50 years and counting!
Tiffany-style lamp shades created with seashells sustainably harvested from around the world.
Every piece is one-of-a-kind.
All Natural. The Original. Since 1974.
Shellfish are managed in fisheries all over the world, like salmon or tuna.
They are harvested sustainably as a food source.
The seashells are then sold into a secondary market from which I purchase, in bulk.
The 2 major buyers of these shells are fertilizer manufacturers and chicken farmers. In this way I have become a kind of seashell preservationist!
However, the red abalone I use are maricultured, marine farmed.
But some of the oysters I use are just bagged from dinner.
And I have also used beachcombed shells of my clients in their commissions.

To transport: Use both hands when picking up and moving. Carry it upside down.
Place upside down on the sofa or on a cushioned chair after you take it off its base.
To transport by car put it in the back seat, upside down, with a seatbelt around it. If it’s a small one you may want to use an appropriately sized box and always support with stuffing.
Clean by vacuuming with the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner.
If you have spilled something on your Shell Shade you can take it off the base and wash it in the kitchen sink, or better, on the lawn with hose and soft bristle brush. Allow to air dry or set in the sun. It can finish drying on its lit base.
Exercise caution when you lift or shift the shade so that you are never putting too much pressure with your fingers on a single shell to pick it up. Although extremely hardy, you might choose the wrong shell!. Use flat hands to pick up and move around.
